Collaborative Translational Research

Collaborative Development of Targeted Cancer Therapies

Collaborated on targeted, sustained-release therapies that pair biomaterials with receptor-specific drug delivery to treat cancer locally, reduce off-target exposure, and help prevent recurrence after tumor resection.

The problem

How can a therapy concentrate its effect at the tumor site while reducing systemic toxicity and the risk of local recurrence?

Approach

Designed and characterized targeted drug-conjugate, nanoparticle, microsphere, and magnetite-modified PDMS systems; then evaluated release kinetics, thermal behavior, cancer-cell response, and therapeutic relevance.

Outcome

Contributed to peer-reviewed evidence for localized, receptor-targeted drug delivery and externally triggered hyperthermia across triple-negative breast and prostate cancer applications.

What I led and delivered

01

Contributed to PLGA-PCL microsphere systems delivering EphA2-targeted prodigiosin and paclitaxel to eliminate residual triple-negative breast tumors after resection in preclinical models.

02

Supported receptor-targeted PDMS and magnetite-enabled drug-delivery systems with sustained release, apoptosis assessment, and hyperthermia potential.

03

Applied release kinetics, thermodynamics, cell-viability, and materials characterization to establish how formulation design shapes therapeutic effect.
